FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Let us help you find a question by choosing a topic. > How long does it take to build a facility in Thailand?
In general a ready built facility can be modified and ready for occupancy in 4-6 months. Larger 5000+ sq. meter custom built facilities can take up to 10 months for occupancy. > Do I need an architect to design my facility prior to construction? No, TRIDENT can prepare a detailed design specification, inclusive of all M&E, along with highly detailed CAD drawings, which can then be submitted to qualified builders. In most cases a qualified builder can import our drawings and create a detailed design package and Firm Fixed Price quote at no additional cost. > Are there incentives offered to new investors? Absolutely, follow this link to the BOI website that outlines the most current financial incentives for MRO operations in Thailand. Depending on your product lines and their size, added benefits might be available. > Can I own my business 100% without foreign partners? Yes, if you are a USA company the existing treaty of Amenity between Thailand and America allows for 100% ownership. In addition, Class 2 & 3 MRO operations that are BOI promoted, may also own their own business 100% regardless of the country of origin. > Can you assist with the location and sourcing of available land to build our facility? Yes, we have years of experience working with the various industrial estates and are well versed on the advantages, or disadvantages of each location, as it relates to cost, logistics, employment and other factors associated with site selection. > If I own a small business without access to large capital that may be required to own land and build my own factory, what other options do I have in Thailand? Renting a "ready built" or "built-to-suit" factory could be a good alternative to owning land and facility. Yes, TRIDENT can assist you every step of the way and also introduce you to vetted service agents that are experts in providing one-stop solutions for each requirement. In most cases, there are qualified law firms where at least one partner is from your home country insuring against the risk of lost in translation issues. > Is Thailand a low cost country when it comes to labor rates? In general we advise our clients that when considering a new MRO operation in Thailand, geographic location and direct market access are far more important than labor rates when assessing the success of a new startup. That said, in general the cost of qualified “all in” direct labor is approximately 40% of the cost in western countries. In Aerospace OEM environments, which use standard work instructions requiring repetitive processes, the cost of direct labor in Thailand is among the best available worldwide. > What makes TRIDENT different than all the other Project Management Companies in Thailand? Trident is composed entirely of seasoned Aerospace MRO executives that have a proven track record in the successful startup and operation of new Greenfield businesses in Thailand. We are neither administrators, nor facilitators; we are in fact the owner’s representatives in all facets of the aerospace business, up to and including a complete turnkey operation. > Where do we start? Contact us and schedule a visit. We will in turn organize visits of local aerospace MRO operations so you can talk directly with the MD’s or owners. In just one visit of three days duration, we can arrange the company visits, land exploration, meet with the Thai Board of Investment and discuss the overall feasibility of your project. |
